REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Exceptional Children (11-month)

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina Exceptional Children License. Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university. Experience with IEP Teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Exceptional Children (EC) Coordinator will work collaboratively to provide support, on site monitoring/

feedback to programs and individual needs for students with disabilities. Included, but not limited to, are the following duties/responsibilities:

To observe, participate in and facilitate on-going training of the School Assistance Teams and Individual Education Program (IEP) Teams.
To ensure compliance with post-secondary transition and Occupational Course of Study guidance.
To maintain an action plan for monitoring and compliance of exceptional children’s records and programs within each school.
To compile compliance data through the use of an online Exceptional Children data program.
To serve as consultant to teachers in the development of teacher strategies, selection of materials, and diagnosis of student needs.
To assist in the developing plans, implementation, and evaluation of exceptional education staff development activities to increase awareness, knowledge, and skill competency.
To develop and maintain strong professional relationships and knowledge interchange with exceptional education teachers/team members in each school.
To coordinate headcount through on-site contact, training and feedback of all IEP Teams to fulfill responsibilities at the school level.
To compile and track data related to State Compliance Indicators for dissemination to local and state stakeholders.
To utilize student information management systems to support data driven decision making.
To ensure proper documentation, services, and compliance with Medicaid billing.
